    Job description

    The National Statistics Office (NSO) is looking for a number of summer survey interviewers to primarily work with a team of interviewers stationed at the Malta International Airport (departures lounge), collecting data through face-to-face interviews for the Tourstat survey, the main source of information on tourism data in the country. Work shall be carried out on a 12-hourly shift basis (Day-Night-Rest-Off) working schedule for a definite period of 4 months (June – September

    At the discretion of Management, Interviewers may be requested to work during office hours on a five-day week.

    Appropriate training for the role will be provided.

    Responsibilities

  • Summer survey interviewers will use paper questionnaires and/or electronic means to collect the data and may also be required to carry out other data inputting work.
  • Besides having an excellent level of interpersonal and communication skills, successful candidates must be both logical, methodical, and extremely discreet in dealing with respondents, and:
  • Carry out face-to-face interviews in-line with set methodologies;
  • Enter collected data electronically into a computer any other portable media device;
  • Take counts of travelling passengers; and
  • Carry out other tasks as may be assigned by the Head of Unit.
  • Relevant or previous similar work experiences will be considered as an asset.

    Requirements
  • Eligibility requirements include:
  • Ordinary Level passes in four (4) subjects at Grade A to C or 1 to 5. Preference will be given to candidates with passes in languages;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Maltese and English;
  • Sound computer literacy skills and good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (preferably qualified with a European Computer Driving License - ECDL qualification);
  • An aptitude for and skill in interviewing techniques and procedures;
  • An ability to follow instructions as guided by team leaders;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, and an ability to interact with the public.

    Salary

    The incumbents will be remunerated the rate of eight euro and sixty-two cents (€8.62) per hour plus an additional shift allowance. Remuneration will be paid on a 4-weeky basis.
