    Description

    As the Chief Engineer at Double Tree by Hilton Malta, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of engineering operations, maintenance, and safety within the property. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. This position forms part of the Senior Management team and reports to the Hotel Manager.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Overseeing the day-to-day engineering operations of the hotel, including maintenance, repairs and installations
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure the ongoing functionality and safety of all equipment, systems and facilities
    • Prepare and manage the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards
    • Collaborate with other departments to address guest concerns or requests related to engineering or maintenance issues promptly and effectively
    • Maintain a proactive approach to guest satisfaction, anticipating and resolving potential issues before they arise
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards or safety issues promptly
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and standards
    • Oversee capital improvement projects, renovations and upgrades, ensuring timely completion within budgetary constraints
    • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors as needed, ensuring adherence to project specifications and deadlines
    • Lead and manage a team of Engineers and Maintenance staff, providing guidance, training and support to ensure optimal performance
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, excellence and accountability within the Engineering department
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and standards
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards or safety issues promptly

      Requirements:
      • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and holding a relevant warrant
      • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably within the hospitality industry
      • Strong technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems
      • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
      • Proven ability to manage budgets, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
      • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, including health, safety and environmental requirements
      • Proficiency in computerised engineering management systems and other relevant software
